Sony just surpassed the resolution of film with their new full frame digital sensor.

This will likely end up in the new flagship Sony Alpha camera due out later this year, as well as the new Nikon flagship, Pentax and others.

These are very exciting (and expensive) times to be in photography!

"Time To Pretend", the new video from new New York band, MGMT, will undoubtedly influence at least a few music videos and photo shoots. The cheap/chic, dirty/sexy, hyper-psychedelic production values are really quite beautiful.

A friend just called to tell me that Heath Ledger was dead, and I thought it was a sick joke, but it was on the front page of CNN.com and now in the New York Times.

As many of you knew, I used to live just blocks from his Boerum Hill house while he and Michelle were still together. Though I only met him a few times, he was always so polite and sincere. I remember seeing him and Michelle pushing Matilda around in a stroller all the time. The fact that he has a young child makes this all more tragic.

My deepest condolences to his family and everyone who knew him.

Heath Ledger was an amazing talent, and this is a tremendous loss.

January is the month of Birthdays for me (already been to 5 and counting), but Casey Nicholson's birthday parties never disappoint. They're loud, roudy and rock 'n roll -- everything you'd expect from a Detroit native. Casey and I were old workmates doing grassroots marketing for Columbia Records a while back, and have been friends ever since.

I always love taking party photos because people are less predictable.

Last night I was at Mai Fujiwara's birthday party at Levee in Brooklyn. Mai is a talented designer and one of the first people I met when I moved to New York. We've been friends ever since.
