Davey Wilson is an English-American photographer, primarily known for documenting the rise of rugby in the US. Wilson shoots notoriously close to his subjects and often puts as much weight on behind-the-scenes moments as he does on-field action. Always with a sharp focus on the emotional aspects of sport, Wilson loves to show strength through struggle.
Equally known for his images of cycling, Wilson’s work with the Axel Merckx-helmed development team, Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team has been ongoing since 2015.
Wilson travels often & is available to book worldwide.
What Everyone Is Saying
“Wilson’s passions for shooting and optimistic approach to his work make one appreciate all that our favorite photographers do to get the shot. Broken knuckles and all, Wilson does what it takes to get the shot...”
Steve Goematt, SLUG Magazine, June 2019
“Davey has a natural ability to capture raw moments … the gritty, emotional side to organized competition and can capture this with really unique compositions. We wanted to show our audience the real side to running these races — the pain, the hardship and the triumphs. Davey didn’t have much experience capturing running, but his experience with racing correlated perfectly into the setting. And the end results are incredible.”
Rob Wassmer, The North Face, Alpha Universe, May 2017
"The best rugby photographer in North America."
Rhys Jacks, Professional Rugby League Athlete
"Davey makes his subjects look larger than life."
Ryan Burroughs, Professional Rugby Athlete
"Working with Davey is always a privilege ... [he] goes above and beyond for that perfect shot."
